Yes. You can install Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) virtualization technology in Ubuntu 20 (or Ubuntu 22) OS. VMM provides a graphical user interface (GUI) to create and run virtual machines with Linux or Windows operating systems.
Can I have a Cloud PC on my NYC Edge server?
Yes, if you need a Cloud PC in New York with a Windows operating system (OS), select an Ubuntu 20 or 22 OS on the service customization page when you sign up for a New York-based edge bare metal server. Then use the Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) virtualization technology in Ubuntu OS to create, run, and manage virtual machines with Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11. Once created your Windows 10 or 11 PC can be accessed securely via Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).
If you want to use a Linux OS-based Cloud PC you can also do that with Ubuntu version 20 or 22. Ubuntu OS supports Virtual Network Computing (VNC) protocol, used to share a graphical desktop over a network. Ubuntu OS also features the Remmina remote desktop client with support for VNC and RDP protocols. Use Remmina to access your Cloud-based personal computer.
Another option for using a Linux-based Cloud PC is Debian 12 OS.
How does HC assign IP addresses on my Edge Server in NYC?
Each NYC Edge bare-metal Server is assigned its own IPv4 subnet that varies from /29 (8 IPs addresses) to /24 (256 IPs). The first three IP addresses are used for the networking service of your server as follows: 1st IP address is for the router default gateway; 2nd IP address is reserved for router1; 3rd IP is reserved for router2.
