Questions & Answers

What is a Dedicated Cloud Hosting?
The term "Cloud Hosting" describes a web hosting service provided by a cloud computing system in which the processing operations (computation) and data storage are divided between separate underlying physical server infrastructure layers. A Cloud computing system is virtualized by default. It has the following layers: Infrastructure hardware layer; Infrastructure hypervisor layer; Tenant virtual machine (server) layer; Tenant operating system (OS) layer; Tenant application layer.
Server environments provided as a service to IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) users (tenants) defineds as "Public Cloud" and "Private Cloud" are hosted in the same physical cloud computing system. This is called "cloud hosting".
The term Dedicated Cloud Hosting describes a single-tenant cloud system. When you use a dedicated cloud hosting service, you do not share the resource of the cloud hosting system with other users. It is exclusively dedicated to you! There are different Dedicated Cloud Hosting technology models that an organization can use depending on its specific needs.
Where are your servers and Cloud infrastructure located?
HostColor's primary U.S. virtual datacenters for delivering cloud infrastructure services are located in New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Detroit. When our customers customize their cloud servers, they can choose a data center location between Ashburn Virginia, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Newark, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Seattle, Toronto, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Singapore, Zurich.
Does HC provide Wordpress Cloud Hosting?
Yes, we do provide WordPress Cloud Hosting. Our Failover Protected Cloud Servers are suitable for resource-demanding Wordpress-based websites. They are powered by the Proxmox VE cloud computing platform and feature fault-tolerant storage and various customizations and scalability options. You can use either fast enterprise SATA enterprise SSD or NMVe storage for your WordPress website.
What makes HC's cloud hosting better than others?
1. HostColor works with world-class ISPs and infrastructure partners to provide cloud hosting infrastructure services from over 100 data centers worldwide. We make it easy for you to deliver application services to your customers instantly with less than 5ms network latency.
2. HostColor's cloud infrastructure services are more transparent and secure compared to those provided by the major hyperscaler clouds. More importantly, when you use our cloud infrastructure, your data belongs to you! Your data is private property, no one can touch it and you have complete control over it. It is very much the opposite of the big clouds where your data is subject to various complex policies, and internal terms and conditions that you cannot control.
3. We charge you less for Semi-Managed Dedicated and Edge Servers than the so-called "Major Clouds" do for unmanaged cloud services. HostColor's Dedicated Servers & Edge Hosting services feature large bandwidth quotas. Your monthly bill won't go up as long as you don't increase your CPU and RAM resources and data storage quota. We don't charge our Cloud hosting clients for IOPS, DNS zones, DNS queries, or data transfers. Our infrastructure-as-a-service plans include free technical support.
Is HostColor an experienced and trustworthy provider?
HostColor's core team has been managing servers and IT infrastructures since 2000. As an organization, Host Color LLC has over 20 years of experience in the hosting industry. To illustrate HostColor's experience, consider these two facts:

  • HostColor's team members have extensive experience with major operating systems, virtualization technologies, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, and hundreds of open-source applications at any stage of their development and business lifecycles. You can rely on HostColor to install and maintain a secure, productive, and cost-effective technology environment for your organization.
At HostColor, your organization is a valued client, receiving customized IT services and a best-in-class edge hosting infrastructure, not just a customer.

What is a Managed Cloud?
“Managed Cloud” is a term that describes a cloud infrastructure (cloud hosting) with included technical support and system administration of the infrastructure environment. Depending on the Service Level Agreement (SLA) the Managed Cloud may or may not include system administration and support of the network and software configurations, security settings, installed operating systems, the installed software applications, maintenance, and data backups.
The cloud infrastructure sold by the major hyperscaler clouds such as AWS and Azure is "Unmanaged" by default and there is no customer support or system and technical administration included in the service. If the users need to use a support they have to pay an additional fee to access the support. It usually starts at $100/month
All cloud infrastructure offered by HostColor is a "Semi-Managed Cloud" and includes some level of system administration by default.
"Semi-Managed Cloud" means that: our administrators will install your cloud server to your custom configurations, reinstall the operating system (OS) upon request, configure the network settings on the cloud server, and help you troubleshoot in case of any operating system, network, or software configuration issues.
What kind of Cloud Hosting do I need?

We will help you to make the right decision and will choose the most cost-effective Cloud hosting solution for you. We want you to know that we never up-sell our customers! What does High Availability (HA) Cloud mean & do I need it?
HA is a software service that minimizes any service outage. It provides uniform, cost-effective failover protection against hardware and Operating System (OS) failures. It monitors the cloud servers to detect failure on the underlying physical hosts or an OS failure inside the clients' instances. If an outage is detected, the HA functionality restarts the cloud instance on another physical host, part of the HostColor's cloud computing infrastructure. Operations resume automatically. All services return online. There is no need to reboot the server manually. If you want to make sure that your websites, applications, and services will return online very fast in case of an outage, you should consider using HostColor's Failover Protected Cloud Servers.
Can I use Microsoft Office on HC Cloud Servers?
Yes, you can use and host your own Microsoft Office on a Cloud Desktop or a Private dedicated IT environment.
You can run any business productivity application on HC Cloud - Office 2016, iWork, Open Office, LibreOffice, etc. You can use our Cloud infrastructure to design and set up any Linux or Windows service framework.
