Questions & Answers

What is a Dedicated Cloud Hosting?
The term "Dedicated Cloud Hosting" describes a cloud hosting service designed for and used by a single tenant. A system used to provide dedicated cloud hosting service can be a redundant standalone cloud-ready (virtualized) bare metal server or a single-tenant cluster of physical servers running an organization's virtualization technology. In both scenarios, the processing operations and data storage are either physically separated or separated between different virtual or bare metal environments. Any form of dedicated cloud hosting system (either based on a system of servers or a single server) is virtualized by default and does not run an operating system installed on top of the physical servers.
The computer systems that provide dedicated cloud hosting services have the following layers: Infrastructure hardware layer; Infrastructure hypervisor layer; Virtual machine (virtual server) layer; Operating system (OS) layer; and Application layer.
When an organization uses a dedicated cloud hosting service, it does not share the resources of the cloud computing system it is using, such as processing power (CPU), memory (RAM), and data storage space, with other users.
The user of a dedicated cloud hosting infrastructure has complete control over it, which includes the ability to choose the virtualization technology and cloud computing platform, operating systems, network architecture of the dedicated cloud, IPv4 and IPv6 settings, and security policy.
It is very important to note that any dedicated cloud hosting system must be a completely private cloud infrastructure and although the provider may own the hardware, but does not have the right to access the system and its components without authorization from the organization using the infrastructure. The dedicated cloud hosting system is effectively the private property of the user.
There are different dedicated cloud hosting technology models that an organization can use depending on its specific needs. For example, a "dedicated cloud system" (a virtualized cluster of servers) or a "dedicated cloud server" (a physical server with hardware redundancy and failover protection for data storage).

Is the HC infrastructure protected against DDoS attacks?
Denial of Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks typically result in service unavailability and thousands of dollars in data transfer service fees, especially if you host your IT infrastructure with one of the major hyperscale cloud providers. HostColor's DDoS-protected Web Hosting accounts, VPS, Cloud Servers and Bare Metal Servers minimize the risk of service unavailability and virtually eliminate the risk of you incurring data transfer costs as a result of artificial, bot-generated traffic to your server instances.
When you use our web hosting services, your applications run behind sophisticated DDoS protection firewalls, maximizing application availability. Our natural, enterprise-grade DDoS networks protect your IT infrastructure from unexpected network downtime, protecting your business from loss and revenue. Our DDoS-protected network services filter out malicious traffic and ensure that legitimate traffic requests reach your servers and applications. Specifically, our DDoS protection includes the following capabilities:
  • Real-time mitigation of malicious attacks
  • Human-generated traffic reaching your web hosting account or server
  • Native protection against network attacks of any size
  • No additional fees or charges for DoS and DDoS protected servers and infrastructure
  • No fees for bot-generated and malicious traffic on all unmetered dedicated servers and unmetered clouds
  • No increased latency and long round-trip delays in application delivery in the event of a network attack
  • All IPv4 and IPv6 settings protected from DDoS attacks
What makes HC Cloud & Edge Hosting better than others?
1. HostColor teams up with top-notch partners worldwide — Tier 3 and Tier 4 data centers — to give you access to over 100 Edge Server Hosting locations. We make it easy for you to deliver application services to your clients instantly with less than 5 ms network delay.
2. Our cloud hosting services are more transparent, safer and more secure than the big hyperscale cloud providers. When you use HostColor's cloud hosting, your data is private property and no one can touch it. It is the opposite of the big clouds where your data is subject to complex policies and terms and conditions that you cannot control.
3. We charge you less for Semi-Managed Dedicated and Edge Servers than the so-called "Major Clouds" do for unmanaged cloud services. HostColor's Dedicated Servers & Edge Hosting services feature large bandwidth quotas. Your monthly bill won't go up as long as you don't increase your CPU and RAM resources and data storage quota. We don't charge our Web Hosting, VPS, and Cloud Server clients for IOPS, DNS zones, DNS queries, or data transfers. Our infrastructure-as-a-service plans include free technical support.

What is a Managed Cloud?
“Managed Cloud” is a term that describes a cloud infrastructure (cloud hosting) with included technical support and system administration of the infrastructure environment. Depending on the Service Level Agreement (SLA) the Managed Cloud may or may not include system administration and support of the network and software configurations, security settings, installed operating systems, the installed software applications, maintenance, and data backups.
The cloud infrastructure sold by the major hyperscaler clouds such as AWS and Azure is "Unmanaged" by default and there is no customer support or system and technical administration included in the service. If the users need to use a support they have to pay an additional fee to access the support. It usually starts at $100/month
All cloud infrastructure offered by HostColor is a "semi-managed cloud" and includes some level of system administration by default.

What is a Dedicated Cloud Server?
The term "Dedicated Cloud Server" describes a single-tenant cloud server. This is different from a "cloud server". The difference is that the term "cloud server" refers to a virtual server that resides on a multi-tenant cloud computing system whose resources are shared by many users. The term "dedicated cloud server" is a term that describes a single-tenant cloud server, an infrastructure that is created and used exclusively by a single tenant.
The dedicated cloud server may run as a virtual instance on a bare-metal server or on a cluster of bare-metal servers operating as a cloud computing system using the user's preferred virtualization technology.
Each dedicated cloud server is virtualized by default and does not run an operating system and applications installed on bare-metal (physical) servers.
As an infrastructure, the dedicated cloud server has the following layers: Physical Layer, Hypervisor Layer, Virtual Machine (Cloud Server) Layer, Virtual Network Layer, Operating System (OS) Layer, and Application Layer.
A dedicated cloud server is a completely isolated cloud computing system with dedicated computing CPU, memory (RAM), and data storage space. The user of the dedicated cloud server has full root access and control over the physical server, the virtualization platform used, the operating system, network settings, and security configurations.
The dedicated cloud server uses a dedicated physical infrastructure. The infrastructure provider may own the hardware, but does not have the right to access the virtualization technology, operating system, and application environment.
Does HostColor offer Managed Website Hosting?
Yes, we do. We have Unmanaged and Managed website hosting plans. Unlike most other hosting providers that offer Managed Services only with VPS and Dedicated Hosting plans, Host Color is pleased to offer small business owners a service named Managed Site. It allows our customers to save thousands of USD per year on IT management by outsourcing the technical administration and development of their accounts and websites to Host Color. What does High Availability (HA) Hosting mean & do I need it?
HA is a software service that minimizes any service outage. It provides uniform, cost-effective failover protection against hardware and Operating System (OS) failures. It monitors the servers to detect failure on the underlying physical hosts or an OS failure inside the clients' instances. If an outage is detected, the HA functionality restarts the cloud instance on another physical host, part of the Host Color's compute cluster. Operations resume automatically. All services return online. There is no need to reboot the server manually. If you want to make sure that your websites, applications, and services will return online very fast in case of an outage, you should consider using HostColor's HA services.
Does Automated Fault Tolerance really offer 100% uptime?
Automated Fault Tolerance (AFT) is a service that eliminates the risk of a service outage. HostColor offers Automated Fault Tolerance as a paid add-on service to all Cloud services. Unlike the HA, which reduces any service outage, the AFT function eliminates it and ensures continuous availability for any websites, applications, and workloads. AFT creates a live shadow server (Failover Virtual Machine), which is synchronized and always up-to-date with the primary one. In case of a hardware failure or an OS outage, the AFT automatically starts the failover VM, ensuring zero downtime.
Do I need a Cloud Hosting?
Most Marketers and Sales Agents say "Yes, you do!". We work differently! We will discuss your project to understand what you want to achieve. HC team will outline any possible IT infrastructure and service scenarios for your business. Cloud services, especially the Hybrid ones are very efficient and cost-effective for businesses, as they help them create flexible IT frameworks and to organize operations more efficiently. On the other hand, the traditional IT infrastructure solutions are simple to understand and in many ways more affordable. The HC Cloud is among the best in the industry and is affordable. Unlike Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and other major cloud service providers, who do not provide technical support unless you pay for it, the HC Cloud includes technical support at no additional charge. Why don't you Ask your questions?.
Can I use Microsoft Office on HC Cloud Service environment?
Yes, you can use and host your own Microsoft Office on a Cloud Desktop or a Private dedicated IT environment.
You can run any business productivity application on HC Cloud - Office 2016, iWork, Open Office, LibreOffice, etc. You can use our Cloud infrastructure to design and set up any Linux or Windows service framework.
What is the difference between Cloud & traditional Web Hosting?
The term "Cloud" describes a networking model of server infrastructure. In such systems, the data processing servers that deal with computation are physically separate from the Data Storage servers. Cloud computing infrastructures are hardware redundant. In case of a physical component failure, they continue to operate and guarantee operational continuity. For a web hosting service to be considered cloud hosting, it must be delivered from a Cloud Computing infrastructure, not from a stand-alone physical server. Most hosting providers use stand-alone physical servers, however.
Are my account, payment details & personal data secure?
Yes, as long as you use strong passwords that include special characters, you're safe. Your account at Accounts.HostColor.com is protected by an Extended Validation SSL certificate. Specific safety policies apply to the users' profiles. The administrative access to our database is also restricted and is not directly accessible over the Internet. Please also be advised that HostColor does not store your full financial details in our CRM. We want you to know that Host Color LLC doesn't share customers' data with 3rd parties of any kind.
Do you monitor the uptime of my website and applications?
Yes! However, remember that there is a different service framework for each IT service. For example, virtual & dedicated servers are very different from Shared plans. There are also different types of monitoring services. Some monitor the websites and hosting accounts' uptime per IP address or domain name. Others monitor application uptime. There are also Network Monitoring services, which help you to understand the network bandwidth on your Dedicated or collocated server(s). If you need any specific monitoring service, please open Support Ticket in your Account and tell us what you need.
